Every attempt will be made to give students and parents at least two weeks notice for any events not included on this calendar, however, certain events or activities may arise where it is not possible to give this much advanced notice.

Please call Mrs. Dean or Mr. Whiddon if you have any questions about anything on the calendar (301-650-6544).

Sep. 25, Mon. Jr. Honors Jazz Ensemble Auditions (grades 7-9), 4:00pm - 9:00pm, Frost MS
Oct. 7, Sat. Application Deadline -- All-State Junior Groups (grades 7-9)
Oct. 13, Fri. Application Deadline -- Jr. All-County Honors Band and Jr. All-County Honors Strings (grades 7-9)
Nov. 6, Mon. MCPS Jr. Band & String Auditions (grades 7-9), 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Nov. 11, Sat. All-State Auditions -- Jr. Groups (grades 7-9)
Nov. 24, Fri. Nomination Deadline, 6th Grade Honors Band and 5th & 6th Grade Honors Strings (nominations made by Directors)
Dec. 1, Fri. per student Registration Fee due to Mrs. Dean or Mr. Whiddon for Jr. Honors Band and Jr. Honors Strings (grades 7-9) -- Directors must have all fees to MCPS Central Office by Dec. 7, so all fees must be in to SSIMS by Dec. 1. Late fees will not be accepted unless prior arrangements are made.
Dec. 14, Thu. SSIMS Winter Concert, 7:00pm, SSIMS Field House (Concert attendance is mandatory for all Instrumental Music students!)
Jan. 2, Tue. All-County Honors Band & Strings Rehearsal (grades 7-9), 6:30pm - 9:00pm
Jan. 9, Tue. All-County Honors Band & Strings Rehearsal (grades 7-9), 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Feb. 24, Sat. MCPS Solo Festival, 9:00am - 5:00pm, Paint Branch HS
Mar. 9-11, Fri. - Sun. All-State Jr. Band in Frederick, MD
Mar. 13-15, Tue. - Thu. District II Orchestra Festival (The SSIMS 7th/8th Grade Orchestra will perform one of these three days. Performance at Orchestra Festival is mandatory for all 7th/8th Grade Orchestra students!)
Mar. 19-22, Mon. - Thu. District II Band Festival (The SSIMS 8th Grade Band will perform one of these four days. Performance at Band Festival is mandatory for all 8th Grade Band students!)
Apr. 21, Sat MODA State Solo and Ensemble Festival (for String students who score a "Superior" rating at the MCPS Solo and Ensemble Festival)
Apr. 28, Sat MBDA State Solo and Ensemble Festival, Towson University and Friends School
(for Band students who score a "Superior" rating at the MCPS Solo and Ensemble Festival)
May 14-15, Mon. - Tue MODA State Orchestra Festival (for Orchestras that score a "Superior" rating at the District II Orchestra Festival)
May 16-17, Wed. - Thu. MBDA State Band Festival (for Bands that score a "Superior" rating at the District II Band Festival)
Jun. 12, Tue. SSIMS End-Of-The-Year Concert, 7:00pm, SSIMS Courtyard (Concert attendance is mandatory for all Instrumental Music students!)
